Dive into the Blocky World: Minecraft Coloring Guides
Steve & Alex, The Player Characters
Steve and Alex are the default player skins in Minecraft, representing the ultimate adventurers who can mine, craft, build, and explore. Steve, with his iconic blue shirt, was the first default player character, while Alex, introduced later, offers an alternative with her thinner arms and orange hair. They are the avatars through which millions of players experience the game.
For Steve, you’ll need a light blue (cyan) for his shirt, a dark blue-purple for his pants, medium brown for his hair, and a warm tan for his skin. Alex typically features orange hair, a light green shirt, dark gray pants, and tan skin. When using crayons, press lighter for the skin tones and harder for the clothing to create depth, making sure to keep the lines sharp to mimic the pixelated nature of their designs. These Minecraft characters coloring pages feature Steve in design #1 and Alex in design #2, with both appearing together in #11 and #18.
The Friendly Creeper
Creepers are one of Minecraft’s most recognizable, and sometimes startling, mobs. Interestingly, the Creeper was accidentally created by Notch, Minecraft’s creator, when he tried to model a pig but swapped the height and length dimensions. Despite their explosive nature in-game, our Creeper here is just enjoying a balloon ride! You can learn more about its unique origins on the Minecraft Wiki.
The Creeper’s body consists of various shades of green, from light lime to deep forest green, with dark gray or black pixel patches. With colored pencils, start with a medium green base, then layer darker green squares or strips in a grid-like pattern to achieve that signature pixelated look. Use a very light gray for the balloon strings and bright, varied colors for the balloons themselves. This happy Creeper is featured in design #3 of our Minecraft coloring pages.
The Trading Villager
Villagers are passive mobs that inhabit villages throughout the Overworld and are known for their unique trading system, allowing players to exchange emeralds for various items. Each villager profession, like a farmer or librarian, wears a distinct outfit, but all share the iconic unibrow and large, blocky nose.
Villagers usually wear brown robes for their base appearance, though some professions have specific color accents (e.g., green for a Nitwit, white for an Armorer). Their skin is a light tan, and their unibrow and eyes are dark brown or black. When using markers, focus on solid, even strokes for the large robe areas, then use a fine-tip marker for the details like the emerald’s glow (light green) and the Villager’s friendly smile. Find this emerald-loving Villager in design #4.
The Loyal Wolf
Tamed wolves are invaluable companions in Minecraft, offering protection and companionship to players. They are naturally found in forests, taigas, and snowy taigas. Once tamed with bones, their collar color can be customized, and they will follow their owner, attacking hostile mobs.
A wild wolf typically has a gray body with a lighter gray or white belly and snout, and dark gray or black eyes and nose. For a tamed wolf, you’ll need red for the collar, though you can choose any color you like! When coloring with crayons, use short, feathery strokes in the direction of the fur to give texture to the wolf’s coat. The player happily petting their wolf is shown in design #5.
Adorable Pandas
Pandas are passive mobs found exclusively in bamboo jungles in Minecraft. They are known for their playful behavior, often rolling around, sitting, and munching on bamboo. There are different types of pandas, each with unique personalities and rare brown variations. You can read more about their in-game behaviors on the Official Minecraft Wiki.
Most pandas are black and white: use jet black for their patches around the eyes, ears, and limbs, and a clean white for the rest of their body. Their nose is also black. The bamboo they eat should be a vibrant lime green with darker green segments. For a smooth, soft look on the panda’s fur with colored pencils, use circular motions for the white areas and solid, even pressure for the black patches. This cute baby panda is ready for your colors in design #6.
The Busy Bee
Minecraft bees are neutral mobs that live in beehives and bee nests, diligently collecting pollen from flowers and returning to their homes to make honey. They play a vital role in pollinating crops and bringing life to flower forests. If disturbed, they will sting, but otherwise, they are gentle creatures.
Bees have a yellow and black striped body, with light gray or translucent wings. Their eyes are usually black. The beehive itself is a combination of warm browns and yellows, representing the honeycombs. For the flowers, use a variety of bright colors like red, orange, pink, and purple. When using watercolors, try a wet-on-wet technique for the flowers to create soft, blended petals, and distinct, clean lines for the bee’s stripes. Our buzzing friend is featured in design #10.
The Bouncing Slime
Slimes are cube-shaped hostile mobs that spawn in swamp biomes and specific underground chunks. When defeated, they split into smaller slimes, making them a fun challenge for players. Their unique bouncy movement is a signature part of their charm.
Slimes are typically a bright, translucent lime green. Their eyes and mouth are usually dark gray or black. For a realistic, slightly transparent look with colored pencils, start with a very light lime green base, then add darker green shading along the edges and bottom to suggest a three-dimensional, jiggly form. The patch of grass they’re bouncing on should be various shades of green. Design #12 showcases a happy slime family.
The Elusive Enderman
Endermen are tall, neutral mobs found in all three dimensions but are most common in the End. They are known for their ability to teleport and pick up blocks. They become hostile if you look directly at their faces or attack them. Their mysterious nature makes them one of Minecraft’s most iconic creatures.
The Enderman’s body is entirely jet black, with glowing purple eyes. The teleportation particles should also be a vibrant purple. Using markers works best for the Enderman’s dark body; apply solid, even black strokes. Then, use a bright purple marker for the eyes and for creating small, scattered dots around its body to represent the teleportation particles. You can find the curious Enderman in design #16.
The Ghast of the Nether
Ghasts are large, white, cube-shaped flying mobs that float in the Nether, known for their melancholic cries and fire charge attacks. However, our Ghast is a bit different, shedding adorable flowers! Despite their intimidating appearance in-game, Ghasts are surprisingly fragile with only 10 health points.
Ghasts are pure white for their main body, with red eyes and a red mouth (though in our design, flowers replace the fireballs!). Their tentacles hang below, also white. When coloring with crayons, use a very light gray to give subtle shading to the white body, emphasizing its blocky form. Use various bright colors like red, pink, yellow, and blue for the flowers floating from its eyes. This unique Ghast is found in design #17.
The Magnificent Ender Dragon Egg
The Ender Dragon egg is a rare trophy obtained after defeating the Ender Dragon, the final boss of Minecraft. It’s often seen as a symbol of accomplishment and a unique decorative block, though it can also be used to respawn the Dragon. Its shimmering, dark texture is instantly recognizable.
The Ender Dragon egg is primarily black with shimmering purple and dark blue spots, lines, or speckles that give it a magical glow. For this design, using a combination of colored pencils and a fine-tip gel pen can create a stunning effect. Apply a base of dark gray or black with pencils, then use a purple and dark blue gel pen to add the glowing, shimmering details on top, making sure to vary the intensity for a mystical look. Design #20 features this grand discovery.
